Welcome
Thank you so much for checking out GreenLevelYouth.com. GreenLevelYouth is the student ministry of Green Level Baptist Church in Cary, NC. Our vision is to see middle and high school students in our area come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to make Him known to their friends and classmates. We believe that the teenage years don't have to be a time of intense struggle and learning through failure. No, we believe that God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, desires to have a relationship with each and every one of us and that He has forever shown us His love at the cross and in the resurrection. We're not promising that these years will be easy. We're not promising that knowing God will bring you everything you've ever wanted. We do promise that knowing Him will forever change Your life because He is the author of life itself. So, we invite you to check us out - wherever you're at. Whether you can quote the book of Romans, don't know what Romans is, or think Christians are a bunch of hypocritical jerks, we invite you to check us out. More than that, we invite you to check God out. We promise that you won't be sorry if you do . . . To Him be the glory,David, Youth Director

About: Connect
Face it, most of us would agree with Ghandi when he said, "I like Christ, but I do not like Christians." Unfortunately, many of you probably know someone who says that they are a "Christian," a "follower of Jesus Christ" and you're like, "well, if that's what a Christian is I don't want any part of that!" In addition, your idea of church might be some red-faced dude yelling and screaming and blowing people up with a Bible-bazooka. Maybe, you just think that the only thing more interesting than a church service is a QVC commercial (google it). You probably get frustrated with stuff like that and want no part of church. Well, trust us, God is frustrated by stuff like that too. The whole truth is that the message of Christianity is not about any of this. Christianity is about Jesus Christ. It is about God's plan to have a relationship with people like us who He created in His very image as the crown jewel of His creation. You hear a lot in school, on TV, and around town about God. You hear alot about how this is true and that isn't. Well, we don't like gossip anymore than you do. Rather than hearing people talk about what Christians, why don't you just come and find out who Christ is. We promise you that it will be something that will change your life forever. After all, Jesus said that He came to give us life (John 10:10).

About: Grow
Good news. Once we become followers of Jesus Christ we immediately become part of the family of God. But that's not the end of the story. No, God desires that we grow in our relationship with Him. You see, Christianity is about something, it's about someone. God desires that we have a relationship with Him. And just like all relationships, you have to spend time with Him in order to grow. Do you want to know God better? You got to spend time with Him. Do you want to know what His will is for your life? You got to spend time with Him. Part of what this means is that you need to learn to read His Word and to prayer. But, it also means that you connect with others in His family. God doesn't want you to live on an island as the only resident follower of Him. No, He wants you to interact and grow together with others who are also part of His family. That's what we call church. Again, there is some misconception. A church is not a building or address. A church is a group of people who have something in common. For followers of Jesus, we can unite because of His gospel. Think of it like a team or club. We don't all have to look the same or like the same music or clothes, but we all have one thing that unites us and which gives us a purpose. For us, that thing is Jesus. So, don't be a "couch potato Christian." Get off the sidelines and get into the game and start working on your game. Get to know Christ better and develop your relationship with Him. Connect to His people. In other words . . . GROW.

About: Go
If you have been around church for very long, you have probably heard of the "Great Commission," in Matthew 28:18-20. But, did you know Matthew is not the only book of the Bible where God reveals His plan to reach the whole world with His good news? In fact, each gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and the book of Acts has its own version of a "Great Commission." But, let's not get it twisted either. The idea that God's followers are to take His good news to everyone everywhere is not a New Testament. In fact, in the very beginning God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and fill the earth (Genesis 1:28). You see, God wanted them to fill the earth with people who knew Him, people who worshipped Him. And He still wants us to do it today! So, we are committed to taking the good news of Jesus Christ to those in or community, in our state, in our country, and in our world (Acts 1:8). Our world and your schools, sports teams, and clubs are filled with people who are looking for good news. They are turning to all sorts of things in order to feel important or feel alive. We've got good news for everyone and everyone. Thus, we . . . GO!

Sweetheart Dinner
This Sunday night, February 28, we will be hosting a Parents' Sweetheart Dinner for all of the parents of our students. For dads, this is really the best. The dinner is free, it will be nice, and your kid(s) will be serving you. Really just a great way to score points with your wife (you're welcome). For those of you who are single or are divorced, please don't think that because it's called "Sweetheart Dinner" you can't come. Really, the only qualification for eating at this thing is if you have a son or daughter (or both) in our youth ministry. You are God's sweetheart, our sweetheart, and certainly your kid's sweetheart. The main course for the evening is pork loin. If for some reason you do not like pork loin, please just let David know either by email at youth_greenlevel.com or by phone at (919) 880.2983 and we'll make sure to have you something special. Finally, invitations for this event have been sent to a number of parents. However, if you are a parent and are reading this and have not recieved an invitation, we would still love for you to come. We apologize that you have not recieved an invitation and promise you will get one next time. Just for this time, though, would you please sign-up online in the space on the right so that we know how much food to prepare. Thanks!
